DAAD Alumni Meeting Bangkok 2020

In March 2020 alumni from Thailand will be invited to join the DAAD Alumni Conference 2020 in Bangkok. The focus will be on sustainable development and the fourth industrial revolution.

The German Academic Exchange Service is the largest scholarship provider in the world, funding scholars, students and researchers through individual scholarships as well as joint research projects between German universities and universities abroad. On a regular basis, we organise meetings for our former scholarship holders and project alumni throughout the world in order to maintain, renew and intensify professional and personal ties as well as to strengthen our worldwide network.

We are delighted to announce that end of March 2020 an alumni event will be held in Bangkok, focusing on the subject:

 Sustainable Development and Industry 4.0:
Global Challenges, Impact and Opportunities”.

Automation, digitalisation and machine learning are but three key words that have dominated not only scientific but also public and cultural discussions in Europe and Asia alike. The term „Industry 4.0“, or the Fourth Industrial Revolution, encompasses trends, technologies and new ways of thinking that continue to affect not only the industrial sector, but also academia and society as a whole. At the same time, the topic of sustainability as a pressing global phenomenon has continued to rise to the forefront of discussions encompassing all aspects of life.

Germany and Thailand share close links and bonds in both these areas, which are certainly defined not only by common needs and goals, but also by globalisation, historic bonds and long-lasting co-operation and friendship. Our intention is to throw light on the different facets of these topics based on different questions.
